Prisms form a first large family of polyhedra, with several special cases inside it.
Definition — Prism
A prism is a polyhedron with two congruent and parallel polygonal bases, connected by parallelogram-shaped lateral faces. It is right if the lateral faces are to the bases (and are therefore rectangles).

The rectangular parallelepiped is a right prism that is also a parallelepiped. The cube is the special case with all faces square.
