The starting point of all algebraic trigonometry: the formulae that express the sine, cosine and tangent of the sum or difference of two angles. The fundamental formula, the one for cos(αβ)\cos(\alpha-\beta), is proved by comparing in two ways the distance between two points on the unit circle; all the others descend from it using the related arcs.
