Setting up a system of two circles looks hard, because both equations are second-degree. There is, however, an elegant trick: subtracting the two equations gives a line, the radical axis, which contains all the common points. In this way the problem reduces to intersecting a line with a circle. The section introduces the radical axis, proves its property, describes the procedure and applies it to an example.
